Susan & Jay’s Wedding Highlight Video

In our last post, we talked about Recap Videos, and gave an example of one. This time, we wanted to give an example of a Highlight Video. The “Highlight Video” has many different variations, but for Cupid, it is a 20-25 minute short edit of the entire day. Typically, our main videos are 90-120 minutes, and include all the natural audio from the day. With a Highlight Video, we use music to tell the story, along with some natural audio from the day. All the key moments are interwoven with music to create a much more condensed version, which is easier to share with friends/family. This is included with our top “Platinum” package, or as an add-on to our other 2 packages.

Susan & Jay had a beautiful wedding at the Harding Allen Estate in Barre, MA. This was a full-day affair (our top package), and started at the hotel early in the morning with all the preparations. Because there were 2 cameramen, the ability to get more creative shots, and more coverage, really made the final video more fun to watch. In addition to the full version of her wedding, Susan received a separate DVD with the Highlight Video, along with a Blu-Ray of each.

Hope this clarifies the differences between a Recap and Highlight Video for Cupid, and please let us know what you think of the video!

Rachel & Jeff’s Recap

Now that I have the blog up and running, I will start to post new Recap and Highlight videos. Recap videos are one-song summaries of all the key moments from the day, which is included in our middle “Gold” package. Highlight videos are 20-25 minute versions of the entire video, which goes into more depth and has more natural audio from the day. A highlight video is included in our top package, or can be added onto any other package. The full video is still included, which is typically 90-120 minutes, so you never miss anything from your special day. But a highlight video can be nice to show friends who may not want to watch the full version, and we always post the Recap/Highlight videos online to share with friends and family.

Rachel & Jeff had a beautiful wedding at the Spring Valley Country Club in Sharon, MA. It was a Jewish wedding, and had a lot of unique traditions. A very cool ceremony, and a awesome reception with a awesome band (Men in Black). Enjoy!

Southwest Contest Video

Although weddings and special events are our specialty, we are definitely prepared for all types of videos. While our sister company, KS Video Productions, usually produces the commerical/corporate/training videos, a recent project came in that didn’t fit into any of these categories: a Southwest Airlines contest submission. The client had made it to the final round of a Southwest contest, where the winner gets 3 million travel points, free tickets, and other Southwest goodies. She was required to create a video showing why she should win the contest, and decided that she wanted a professional to do it. Since most contest entries are just people recording themselves with amateur video, why not produce a professional video, and have it stand apart?

That’s exactly what Cindy (the client) did. It was a last minute shoot, as she needed to submit the final video within a couple days, and had only been notified she made it to the final round a few days earlier. But we spoke, started to get the wheels in motion, and had everything ready in time for the deadline. It was a blast to put together, and Cindy spent a long time writing the script and organizing the cast (her friends and family). Great job Cindy!

One major reason to produce the video through Cupid Productions, instead of KS Video, was that the Southwest stock ticker is “LUV”! And Southwest has always had a fun-loving attitude with their staff and marketing. So it was a perfect match-up.

Well, enjoy the video below, and keep your fingers crossed for Cindy to win!

Until next time-

Cupid gets a Facelift!

It had to be done…we were very proud of our old site, but it was several years old, and needed an update. Plus, now we can incorporate our blog into the site, and be much more connected to social media. I want to thank Patrick Sherman at 253 Design, who has been great in designing an awesome site, and extremely easy to communicate with. Updating my sites to WordPress with Patrick has been one of the best decisions I’ve made.

Just to establish a little of our backstory, I wanted to talk a little bit about how I started my companies. I went to Emerson College for film, and graduated with a B.A. in Visual & Media Arts in 2002. I love film, always have, and had the privilege to go to college for something I thoroughly enjoy. However, upon graduation, I wanted to apply my skills I learned, and grow a business. So I started working with local videographers, and getting experience with live events. Around 2004, I started Cupid Productions, and never looked back. We went full-time in 2007, and continue to grow. We now have an office in Norwell, which has been great to meet clients at.

I also started KS Video Productions in 2008, which handles other types of live events, commercials, training videos,  corporate work, music videos, etc. I wanted to separate the two, as wedding video is very different than other types of live events. There is a blend of documentary and cinematic styles that are very specialized. And I’d like to think that after many years of producing wedding videos, I have developed strong skills in both of these.

My main goal with every wedding video is to capture all the key moments, while being unobtrusive. The biggest compliment I can receive is “I never knew you were there!” But having a film background, I like to think I bring a lot of different skills to live events, and that helps to make the final product that much better.

So moving forward, I hope to update this blog on a regular basis, and keep clients and potential clients informed with various video-related tips and ideas. Please feel free to peruse my site, and view my videos, and let me know what you think!

Until next time…
